Our Leadership

Pastor Paul Anderson

From beginning to end the Bible is the story of the God who rescues from the brokenness and destruction of sin solely through his grace. Beginning in Genesis 3:15 with the proto-evangelion (the "first-gospel"), all of Scripture either points toward, or shows the results of the gospel, Jesus substitutionary life, death and resurrection to redeem sinners.

Because this message of Jesus, the Word incarnate, is the centerpiece of God's Word, we want to continuously shine a spotlight on Christ in all we teach. The gospel has application in every area of life, and we want to expound its truth through Christ-centered expository preaching, and rich Christ-exalting teaching and writing.

What We Believe

  • The Bible

We believe the Scriptures, in their entirety, were verbally inspired by God, are without error in the original writings, and are authoritative in all matters of faith and life.

    Prov 30:5; 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-21

  • God

We believe in one living, true, unchanging, holy, and merciful God; eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit – having the same attributes and perfections.

    Deut 6:4; Ps 90:2; Matt 28:18-19; Jn 10:30; Rev 1:8

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, who is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. He rose bodily from the grave and ascended to heaven, where He alone mediates between His people and the Father, exercises His reign, and will one day return to establish His Kingdom.

    Matt 1:23; Jn 1:1; 10:30; I Cor 15:3-4; Col. 1:15; I Tim 2:5

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, His activity in creation, inspiration of Scripture, and His work of glorifying the Son. We believe that He convicts the world of sin, and draws people to Jesus. He indwells and empowers all Christ followers, and gives gifts to the church in order that lives be transformed.

    Jn 15:26; 2 Cor 3:18; Eph 4:7-13

  • Humanity

We believe that people are created in the image of God, called to care for His creation, and ultimately bring God glory. We believe that Adam and Eve sinned, incurring physical and spiritual death for themselves and their descendants. Therefore all are born with a sin nature, commit acts of sin, and are in desperate need of the saving work of Jesus.

    Gen 1:27-28; Rom 3:10, 23; 5:12; Eph 2:1-3

  • Salvation

We believe in God’s great love for all people, and that He desires all people to be in relationship with Him. Jesus Christ died for the sins of all humanity as the only qualified sacrificial substitute. His death paid the penalty for humanity’s sinfulness, making possible full forgiveness for all who believe. We believe people receive salvation by grace, through faith in Christ alone, apart from human merit, and that all true believers shall be kept forever by the power of God. Those who have a faith relationship with Christ will demonstrate in their lives a growing Christ-likeness, love for God’s family, and partnership in Christ’s mission to restore wholeness to a lost and broken world.

    Jn 1:12; 3:16; Rom 5:8; Eph 2:4-10; I Pet 1:18-19; I Jn 2:2

  • The Church

We believe that all Christ followers are baptized by the Spirit into the Universal Body of Christ – His Church. Following Christ’s command, all His followers are to be baptized in water as a profession of their faith, and are to regularly fellowship with Christ in the ordinance of communion. All believers are to become faithful participants in a visible local church, investing their time, energy, gifts, and resources to build up the Body of Christ and advance God’s Kingdom. We believe the local church is to be submissive in all matters to Jesus Christ as its head.

    Acts 2:38; Rom 12:3-8; I Cor 11:23-26; 12:13; Eph 1:22-23; Heb 10:24-25

  • Eternal Destiny

We believe every human being will experience bodily resurrection. Those who reject Christ will experience Hell—continuous separation from God and everything that is good. Those who follow Christ will experience Heaven—continuous intimacy in the presence of God and the experience of eternal life in a new heaven and new earth.

    Matt 25:31-46; I Cor 15:12-58; 2 Cor 5:10; I Thess 4:13-17; 2 Pet 3:10; Rev 20:6; 21:1
